Prof. Dr. Meike Ramon: Deepfakes and synthetic identities: Risks as opportunities for science and society

In this talk Meike Ramon will present recent findings on the limits of human deepfake detection among civilians, law enforcement professionals, and Super-Recognizers. Implications of these limitations will be discussed as well as the potential benefits synthetic identities can play in increasing fairness, privacy, and transparency. This presentation aims to contribute to a nuanced discussion on managing generative AI's risks and benefits, by emphasizing the need for ongoing research and policy development to harness its potential responsibly. Meike Ramon is known for her ground-breaking research on Super-Recognizers.

Prof. Dr. Georgia Pavlopoulou: Shifting from neuro-disorder to neuro-diversity in mental health research: If so, how?

Dr Georgia Pavlopoulou asks if moving from a neuro-disorder into neurodiversity narrative can provide a foundation for better study of neurodevelopment and improvements in translational science. She will be drawing on past and recent work primarily focused on autism, and mental health. Dr Pavlopoulou will also highlight how the neurodiversity paradigm forces us to take the experiences and priorities of neurodivergent people seriously to our research efforts.
